Information/God

Let’s face it, when it comes to the instant of Universe’s creation, most atheists and Christians seem to agree that it popped out of virtually nothing.

Atheists argue that since science will never have the tools to discover how the Universe was born, research must focus on what can be studied such as what happened during fractions of the first second during the inflation period starting from an infinitesimal small area (or singularity) followed by subsequent events. Atheists don’t need a God for Universe’s creation.

Christians argue that an ever existing omnipotent God created the Universe, and within it the Earth, also out of virtually nothing. Christians also hold that Jesus, the son of God, could perform miracles and God has the ability to influence Nature and people’s personal lives.

Doug, who seeks to find a bridge between materialism and Christian faith, didn’t like either options, and his solution was to establish a “Scientific Faith” theory which in essence means “materialize” one part of God (Material God) who is highly organized “Information” having the means and ability to execute a plan to create the Universe in full agreement with Spiritual God who is the totality of “Information”. Doug envisions that the creation was preceded by the existence of Information, a chameleon-like “substance”, which exerted gravitation and had very high energy content that Material God could assemble and ignite leading to the Big Bang event with Information serving as the precursor for the elementary particles of the Standard Model. According to Doug, it is possible that the well documented energy content of the vacuum is represented by remnant Information that fuels transient formation of virtual particle pairs.

In the book, Doug also develops a theory how versatile DNA-like structures of Information can accumulate and preserve the individual’s experiences that survive death and provides the basis for continued existence.
